Spotlight Berlin

May 1945 in your historical thinking – part 3

Contemporary witnesses play an important role in history. But whose voices do we actually hear?
The channel “schwarzrotgold tv” talks to Black Germans about identity and their experiences. In our examples two People of Color have their say and talk about their experiences during the Nazi era, when they were arbitrarily deprived of their citizenship and thus became “stateless”. Their descriptions indicate that the end of the war for them did not mean the end of these exclusions.
